How Does Music Affect Plant Growth

Just like human beings and other animals, plants are also living organisms. Living things do have their own features and characteristics which differentiates them distinctly from non-living things. A part from living things having the ability of respiration, they also respond to irritability, and the immediate environment surrounding them.

How Does Music Affect Plant Growth

While human beings have auditory organs to respond to sound, plants do not have them. This is the only difference that exists between plants and animals when it comes to music effect on their growth. However, what affects plants is not the music itself but rather the vibrations caused by the music in air waves around the plant's surroundings.

So many experiments have been done to prove whether certain types of music affect plants growth. While the results may not be accurate enough to argue that music affects plant's growth, to some extend, it does. So many scientists have tried to find out the effect of music to plants' growth but the experiments have always exhibited negative results unexpectedly.

How Does Music Affect Plant Growth

Plants use carbon dioxide for growth and photosynthesis to manufacture their own food for growth and development. When a person stands where they have grown their plants and start singing and playing music for them for a long period of time, they use carbon dioxide being exhaled by the person for photosynthesis, thus enhancing faster and proper growth and development.

How Does Music Affect Plant Growth

Plants which are experiencing a certain frequency of sound grow taller and germinate more quickly than plants in a silent room. These plants also weigh more than plants at a silent place, a prove that plants to some extend do need music.

One good example of how plants like noise and music can be viewed along roadsides. When hooting and noisy vehicles pass by, they make a lot of noise on these roads. These plants are therefore seen bending towards the road, thus responding positively towards the noise and music. These can explain that plants do, and most likely, like music and noise, which promotes their growth. These plants are healthy, grow taller, weigh heavy and are greener.

Most probably, plants, like other living things, do need tender care. When one has their plants and sign with their musical instruments for them repeatedly, it has been observed that these plants also grow more quickly towards the direction of music. This is because it is a sign of tender care.

Plants also react differently under different forms of music. Hard rock and Heavy metal music have been observed to have an adverse and hazardous effect on the plants' growth.Infact, plants grown at a silent place do perform better than plants grown where there is hard rock music. However, and soft music like classical music is a darling music to plants. Plants grown at a place where there is classical music have been seen and observed to perform better than those grown in quiet place and Hard rock music places. However, this point is still debatable.

As music is medicine to the soul of people, so is it a growth factor to the plants, although to a minimum extend. However, plants do still need music for proper growth and development, though it is not a major factor that contributes towards the growth of the plant.
